These electronic pages cannot be reproduced in any format without the written consent of the author at http://fulton.ilgenweb.net. **************************************************************************** Source: The Historical Encyclopedia of Illinois and History of Fulton County Munsell Publishing Co., Chicago, 1908 **************************************************************************** The Biography of Moses BORDNER [Surnames: BORDNER, CHAPMAN, DUCKWORTH, EWERS, LARCH, QUIGLEY, SHIELDS, WILCOXEN] BORDNER, MOSES Late President of the Farmers State Bank of Lewiston, he was born in Dauphin County, PA, July 4, 1784, a son of Peter and Christina (Larch) Bordner, and came to Fulton County in 1846, where he died at the age of 99 years. His wife was born in 1792 and lived to be 105 years old. Leaving Pennsylvania in 1846, the Bordner family went to Licking Co., Ohio and in the Fall of that year came overland to Fulton County, locating in Lewistown Twp. They purchased a tract of densely timbered land of 200 acres. He resided there until 1902, and established his residence in Lewistown. In 1847 Mr. Bordner married Margaret Elvira Ewers, who bore him nine children, one of whom died in infancy. Another, Clifford, died in 1895. The mother still survives wth the following children: Madeline, wife of Perry Shields, a farmer; Louisa, who married A. J. Wilcoxen, a farmer in Liverpool Twp.; Elizabeth, wife of John Boyd, of Lewistown, IL; Charlotte, who married W. H. Quigley, a farmer; Marvin H., a farmer in Lewistown Twp, who married Iva Chapman; Henry S.; and Jennie, who married Sept. 1905. The mother of this family is a daughter of Jonathan and Sarah A. (Duckworth) Ewers. Mr. Bordner was arrayed with the Democratic Party. He passed from this life on March 27, 1905.
